Signs You Are Ready to Hire an Online Business Manager

by Tyra Pickett Leave a Comment

Let’s talk about the signs you are ready to hire an Online Business Manager.  Online Business Managers (OBM’s) are a boom to your business.  They not only create an online presence for your organization, but they also expedite a lot of your operations.  By shifting a sizable portion of your business online, they expand your outreach and improve your efficiency.  OBM’s also institute systems that boost communication between departments and utilize resources better to optimize different business processes.

All this sounds like complicated jargon, but it’s simple.  Online Business Managers take your brick-and-mortar store into the 21st century where it can grow.  However, the need for Online Business Managers only arises when you know you’re ready to take that step.  Here are 5 signs you are ready to hire an Online Business Manager.

5 Signs You’re Ready to Hire an Online Business Manager

1. You’re Busy All the Time
The first sign you’re ready to hire an Online Business Manager, is your company is growing and that you’re putting in more and more hours.  This means that your clients are increasing their orders or you’re getting more clients.  Either way, at this point, your business is taking on more than you can handle.  Now is the perfect time to invest in an online business manager.

The OBM will fill in all the gaps that are being left out because you’re overwhelmed.  If you’re not financially ready to do that yet, you can perhaps try using an Online Business Management software tool instead.  However, you will have to hire an Online Business Manager in the long run.

2. Managing Operations Isn’t Your Strongest Suit
As a CEO, you need to be a great leader.  However, that doesn’t mean you’ll be extremely qualified to run operations.  You need to focus on your strengths and leave the other jobs to those who are trained to handle them.  This will become evident to you if your shop is becoming too big to control.  This is when you should put the word out for an online business manager.  You will need someone to do the hard work for you and handle the “legwork.”

OBMs love to figure out which operations can be made more efficient.  They will also institute standard operating procedures to reduce errors and improve communications between departments.  This will make operations a whole lot smoother in your company.
Management, after all, is the strong suit of an OBM.  Hence, it only makes sense that they will help to standardize operations all across your company.  Whether it’s software, hardware, labor, or spending, as far as an online presence is concerned, they’ll take care of it.

3. You Have a Clear Vision
You need to have a clear growth plan and vision before you hire an online business manager.  This shouldn’t be an abstract goal of how much you want to be worth or what title you want.  It should be a concrete goal featuring the metrics your company will achieve the next year or five years later.

These metrics should align with your plan to hire an online business manager.  For instance, if you want your social media presence to expand 1 million followers, an OBM can help.  If you wish for online orders to increase by 15% or 25%, that’s a viable goal for an OBM.

If all these things are in place, then you may be ready to hire an online business manager.  They will help turn your vision into a reality and help you improve it as well.  For instance, they’ll help you realize which goals are half baked or unrealistic.  They will also help you define which goals you ought to have and which are unnecessary.  For instance, if you have a niche business and you’re targeting the general public, they’ll market to your key demographic.  That will help you generate better returns and thus improve profits.

4. The Company’s Revenue Has Exceeded Six Figures
It’s strongly inadvisable to bring in an Online Business Manager if you haven’t generated six figures.  You won’t be ready to set up a professional online presence, and you won’t be prepared to pay them.  A lot of online business managers handle the entire transition from a physical to an online presence.

This requires meticulous planning, customizing processes to fit the business, etc.  Not just that, they will also effectively budget the transition for you, looking at cloud storage options and CRMs.  All of that will require hours of research, planning, communication, etc.
It will take up to 30 to 40 hours per month to finally make the switch when the time comes.  That needs to be backed by reliable financial capital.  Hence, if you want an online business manager, you should focus on generating revenue first.  This may involve cutting back on expenses and eliminating a few unneeded positions.  However, in the long run, it will be beneficial for your company.

5. You’re Ready to Reinvest in Your Business
If you’re looking to expand your business further, then you probably have enough cash on hand to do so.  If you find yourself examining options to extend your influence or compete with more prominent players, then hire an online business manager.  You can start by experimenting with online business management software if you choose.  It’ll help you lay the groundwork for an online presence.  It will help you handle orders and figure out the best fit for your company.

It will help you with a roadmap of how to transition from a physical to an online presence.  The lessons you learn through this will help you define qualities that you’ll most value in an online business manager.

Online business managers will help you examine the way you currently do things and how to improve them.  This will change specific processes in your business, and you may take some time to readjust. However, in the long run, this will be beneficial for your business because it will drive efficiency and optimization.
