2020 is here and many of us are planning goals for this year. All of us have some goal to fulfill that will help us attain our purpose; but how many of us can achieve them? The answer is, not everyone and the reason is due to the lack of a proper strategy. Here are 8 proven ways to set your goals and achieve them.
Assess your capabilities and trust your instincts
Before getting started with the process of setting a goal, learn from yourself. What are your capabilities and the things that you love to do? Trust your instincts, they always tell you the truth. After all, to successfully turn your vision into reality, you must thoroughly enjoy the process of it.
Fulfill one aim at a time
Strive to work for one goal at a time and attain it with perfection. If you start focusing on varying things at a single time, none of them will have their deserved attention leaving your mind in a mess. It is therefore wise to have a single aim and work wholeheartedly towards it.
Invoke determination
The importance of training your mind and skills to strengthen them with each passing day is unprecedented. Trigger determination will make you pursue your goal no matter how many hardships you encounter. Prompt yourself with the thought that giving up is not an option; it is you who will have to do all the hard work because, in the end, it’s YOUR goal.
Keep reminding yourself about your goal
Every single day, religiously, remind yourself of your goal and the reasons that are leading you to achieve it. Wake up every morning and list down the small steps that you must take today to achieve the bigger goal. It is crucial to always have the mission that you are chasing in front of you so that your efforts never fall short.
Keep a record of your progress
Have a notebook or diary that will register your daily or weekly goals and the progress that you are making. Write down a few “to-do”s and once the week comes to an end. Check many of them you have been able to complete effectively and how much time it took. This will not only keep you on the right track but also push you to do better than yesterday.
Try new ways
Rather than sticking to conventional ways of doing something, figure out newer and more effective ways that will reach your goal faster. Give up your fears and procrastination, and make things happen now. When we start practicing something daily, our brain automatically comes up with unique ideas that help to achieve our aim faster; capitalize on this feature, look for distinct methods and don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone.
Get inspired and motivated
Another useful way of setting goals and achieving them is through the right kind of inspiration and motivation. There must have been other people who have had similar aims; research about them, read about their lives and mantras, and get to know what kept them sane when they were facing hardships and the techniques that they used to overcome them. This will not only inspire you to do your best but also keep you motivated.
Be patient and do not be afraid of failure
Accept the fact that good things come to those who wait and are not afraid to fail. Instead of being discouraged by the failure, learn from it. Realize your accountability and analyze the areas that have gone wrong. Rectify them, and try again with renewed zest.
